The job of a medical representative is complex enough, demanding much of your time and effort to succeed, especially if you're just starting. But once you get the hang of it and you finally have your rhythm, you'll be able to get the most of your job with minimal effort. That is working smart, not hard. And your salary plus your incentives will be able to sustain your lifestyle.

But what if the salary and the incentives are not enough? Great if you're single and you only have to worry about yourself. But what if you are starting a family or have to support family members? You just can't rely on salary loans because you have to pay it back eventually.

Fortunately, Medreps are really smart! There are several ways for a Medrep to earn extra cash without resorting to selling his samples, which by the way, is illegal, and can get your fired. So, huwag mo na isipin mag-salya ng samples!

Without further ado, here is the list of side jobs a medrep can do to earn extra money without sacrificing his or her main job:

Online Selling - Selling online is now virtually free! You can sell via facebook and sell stuff to your friends. You can also sign up and create an account with Shopee.ph and offer your customers free shipping and cash-on-delivery options. There's also OLX.ph which is also a platform to sell second-hand items. But what to sell? Look around your house, there may be a goldmine hiding there! Are there any unutilized items that you think people will pay to buy? I once sold an old baby carriage to a young couple. If you have talents or hobbies such as creating items like fancy jewellery, bags, clothes, etc., you can profit with that by selling it online.

Teach English - If you can spare four hours of your time each day, you can be a part-time English language teacher and teach Chinese, Japanese or Korean kids! There are several platforms out there, such as 51Talk, Acadsoc, NativeCamp, Bizmates and several other companies, with the pay ranging from about $2 to $4 per hour. That's as high as P800.00 per day or P16,000.00 per month for 20-day work per month!

Earn from your talent - Do you know photoshop or know how to code website and apps? Then there's Freelance, Fiverr or Upwork for you! Just create a profile and list your talents to start, and if you are hired to do a job, you can do it on your spare time and earn from it!

Start a business at home - If you have somebody in your household, like your wife, siblings or parents, that can help run the day-to-day operations, then, by all means, start a business. You can start a small business right from your own homes, such as a sari-sari store or a food cart.

Rent out your stuff - People will rent items they themselves don't want to buy. If you have videoke machines, LED projectors, sound system, a passenger van, extra bedroom (via AirBnB) or hell, even your internet (via a vending machine), you can rent it out and earn from it!

Become a Tutor - Medreps are smart people. And can handle people really well regardless of age, even kids! Even though you did not take education in college doesn't mean you cannot tutor kids. How hard could it be? You only need to stick to the books and the lessons provided by the teachers, break it down and make sure the kids understand it. Then give him a quiz to verify understanding, then voila!

There are a lot of "jobs" that you can do and there are a lot of platforms out there (eg. network marketing, putting up a business, etc.) but I have not included the side jobs that can potentially get you out of focus from your main job. After all, these jobs should only serve to augment your income and your primary focus should be your job as a Medical Representative.

Attention fresh grads and career shifters: Do you want to be a Medrep?

Did you ever wonder why Medrep's dress really nice, drive the latest car models and have the extra money in their pockets? Well, those are the "perks" of the job and each pharma company have different ways of "pampering" their best salespeople.

Now, did you know that the Philippine pharmaceutical industry is worth P164 billion and has grown significantly year after year? It is one of the fastest growing industry in the country now and has generated tens of thousands of jobs.

You can search the world wide web and waste long hours just to get information that may not be applicable to the Philippine setting. Why not get The Filipino Medrep Guidebook instead?

This guidebook "So, You Want to be a Medrep?" will give you an overview of the job itself and it is designed for people who just graduated from college, regardless of their degree, as well as those who wanted to shift careers. Topic by topic, you will be given a glimpse of how this industry works and how you will be able to join this industry and be a successful Professional Medical Representative.

Where do you want to be in the next five years? Sure, everybody wants to be promoted. How do you see yourself? You can be a District Sales Manager and have your own people or you want to enter the complex world of strategic marketing and be a Product Manager. Or if you like training and development, why not be a Training Manager? You like planning and implementing events? Try to be a CME Manager. The opportunities are endless. And the salaries and benefits also grow with the position.

You may want to be promoted as a District Sales Manager. District Sales Managers have several Med Reps reporting to them. Being promoted from rank-and-file to management position means you have what it takes to manage and develop your people. The combination of the sales targets of your people is your target. Likewise, the qualitative performance of the group reflects back to you. District Sales Managers are middle managers, meaning, they serve as the conduit between the management and the field personnel. The next level of promotion would be as Regional Sales Manager and National Sales Manager.

If marketing is your forte and has excelled in program conceptualization and implementation as a Med Rep, you may want to be promoted as a Product or Brand Manager. Product Managers are responsible for the strategic direction of a product, or in the case of a small organization, the company’s whole product portfolio. They coordinate with the Medical Director or a group of medical advisers on how to properly promote the products to their colleagues.

Being able to develop people and eliciting top performance in terms of product knowledge, marketing knowledge, and selling skills is the job of a Training Manager. In collaboration with Human Resources, Training Managers analyzes training needs, design training programs and facilitates its implementation. They are sometimes sent to expensive training programs, here and abroad, and cascade those training to the people.

CME Managers, on the other hand, are those who facilitate continuing medical education of the target customers. Basically, these are lectures or presentations that involve the company’s products and its impact on the quality of life of patients. They usually accompany the lecturer on such events. These lecturers are also doctors who are highly respected members of the academe or are Key Opinion Leader (KOL) in the field where the drug is promoted. CME Managers are also responsible for the company’s participation to medical conventions, making sure that such participation will allow greater exposure of the company and its products to all participants.

Your manager will assess you quantitatively and qualitatively. In the quantitative aspect, you will be evaluated for your over-all sales performance. How does your territory fare versus your sales target? Aside from the total sales, you may also be evaluated on a per product basis.

Call performance is also evaluated. Your call rates determine if you are promoting to the right customer with the right product using the right promotional strategy. The proper use of the promotional fund is evaluated by comparing it to your sales. It’s called expense-to-sales ratio. This is a little bit tricky. Every company has different ways of computing this.

In the qualitative part, you are evaluated on the way you do things. This is based on the concept that if you do what is expected of you better than the standards set, the result will be positive. Written examinations and detailing exercises are recorded and improvements or lack of it are included. The quantity and quality of prescribed marketing and promotional activities compared to the standards are also reviewed. Your behavior is also reviewed by means of your 201 file.

The ratio or percentage between the quantitative and qualitative parameters may differ from company to company. In a sales-oriented company, they put more weight on sales performance, say 70%-30% in favor of sales. In other companies, they tend to have a balance between the two.

Sex is a wonderful thing. It connects both men and women deeply across their physical, emotional, and some say spiritual levels. Sex provide your body with several benefits the same ways as exercise, such as boosting your heart's health, immunity and lowering blood pressure. But the key here is to have sex as often as possible.

More sex may mean fewer sick days for you and your partner. There are several studies about comparing couples with frequent sex and those with fewer sexual intercourse. Couples with regular sex (at least once per week) can boost your health and wellbeing.

Sex is a form of exercise, and there are a lot of studies linking exercise with improving your health. According to the American Heart Association, sexual activity is equivalent to moderate physical activities like brisk walking. The movements during sex can help tone abdominal and pelvic muscles and can burn approximately 200 calories every 30 minutes of sex.

Frequent sexual intercourse can have some great effects on a man's semen quality. Semen health was found to be best if it is replenished in less than ten days. Meaning, you better get rid of all that semen in your sac so that fresh new semen can replace it, especially if you’re trying for a baby. Frequent sex can keep sperm fresh by having sex at least once or twice a week, and not only during the time of your partner's ovulation.

The high sexual activity allows your body to release pheromones, the chemicals that enhance your sex appeal. The more sex you have, the stronger your desire will be to have sex with your partner again. Frequent sex and orgasm increase the levels of the hormone oxytocin allowing you to feel more empathically connected to your partner.

Lastly, frequent sexual intercourse can help improve your mood and relieve you of stress. The hormones that are getting released during sex can help alter your body's state, allowing you to feel relaxed, happy and sleepy.

Summer is that time of the year where everybody loves to be at the beach to cool off. Lying on the sand, feeling the breeze and listening to the waves as you doze carefree in the sun is one of the best things you can enjoy summer. Picnics and BBQ’s outside is pretty fun, too. There’s nothing more enjoyable than enjoying good food while you watch the people playing at the beach.

Although sunlight is essential, it also has a dangerous side. The sun can be really harsh to your skin. Too much exposure to the sun can cause sunburn. Ultraviolet rays penetrate the layers of the skin where they can damage or kill the cells. People with light skin are much more likely to have sun damage, but darker-skinned people can be affected too.

The usual protection that we have is to apply sunblock. Sunblocks and sunscreens work by blocking and absorbing the harmful UV rays through a combination of physical and chemical particles. The physical particles reflect UV radiation from the skin while the chemical ingredients react with radiation before it penetrates the skin.

But there are ways you can protect yourself from within, and you will be surprised that you have been ignoring it for some time now. Vitamin C is one of the most common vitamins and you are taking it one way or another by food or part of your multivitamins. But a high-dose vitamin C daily has several benefits as well, such as boosting your resistance from diseases and, yes you guessed it, protect your skin from sun damage.

Vitamin C increases the production of collagen in the skin. It is also the most common antioxidant naturally found in our skin. Constant exposure to UV rays can speed up the ageing process by letting free radicals interfere with collagen production, thus cause wrinkles and discolouration. Vitamin C works as an antioxidant to protect against this damage.

We just got back from Hong Kong just in time before the heat of the summer arrived and in my opinion, the cool months of December - February are the ideal time of the year to visit Hong Kong, at least in my opinion. Hong Kong, during the summer season, is usually hot and dry, and there's a lot of tourists. The low season, which is cooler, is ideal for most Filipinos since we preferred a much cooler climate to escape the temperature in the Philippines.

So, our trip is purely DIY. I have not arranged any tours with any travel agencies and I am the one who booked our flight, hotel accommodations, and Disneyland pass. There are 10 of us who travelled, five adults and five kids. So, the first thing that I did, six months in advance is to book the cheapest plane fare as possible. But finding the right schedule is very difficult. We had to find out if the chosen dates did not coincide with any of our previous commitments. The kid's schedules are easier, we just informed their schools about it and ask for advance study materials.

Then we booked the hotel accommodation via Booking.com. At first, I've looked for the cheapest accommodations, but after reading all the horror stories online and that we have kids and toddlers with us, we settled on the bit pricier BP International Hotel for the first two nights. BP International Hotel is located in Tsim Sha Tsui, and is just within walking distance of Victoria Harbour and Temple Street Night Market, and the Hong Kong Jordan MTR station. For our next night, we booked Disney's Hollywood Hotel so that we can enjoy Hong Kong Disneyland for two straight days!

A month before our flight,  we bought the following discounted vouchers and pass from Klook.com:
  1. Hong Kong Airport Express - It brought us from Hong Kong International Airport to Kowloon Station in less than 30 minutes! You can try the bus, but good luck with the traffic. Buy it here: AIRPORT EXPRESS
  2. Hong Kong Disneyland Day Pass - Our vouchers were emailed to us right after we booked. Buy it here HONG KONG DISNEYLAND
  3. Meal Vouchers for Hong Kong Disneyland - You cannot bring your own meals or snacks inside Disneyland, but there are a lot of restaurants and fast food available around the park. Buy it here: DISNEYLAND FOOD VOUCHERS
  4. MTR Tourist Day Pass - We explored Hong Kong with this unlimited 24 hours ride to Hong Kong's very efficient MTR trains. We also used this to ride from Kowloon to Disneyland. Buy it here: MTR TOURIST PASS
  5. 4G Internet SIM Card - Unlimited internet for 5 straight days? Hell yeah! Buy it here: 4G INTERNET SIM CARD

There are a lot of activities that you can do in Hong Kong, depending on the time and budget. To save money and at the same time, enjoy the finer things in life, you can always try the DIY way. I suggest that you stay away from packaged tours because it will just eat your time away. It is always better to explore the city by foot, or in our case, unlimited MTR ride via MTR Tourist Day Pass.

Here are the other highly recommend activities you can do in Hong Kong, which are all available at a discounted price from Klook:

  1. Ocean Park Hong Kong - Buy from KLOOK
  2. Ngong Ping 360 Crystal Cabin - Buy from KLOOK
  3. Hong Kong Big Bus Unlimited Hop-On Hop-Off Sightseeing Tours - Buy from KLOOK
  4. Peak Tram Fast-Track Combo - Buy from KLOOK
  5. Madame Tussauds Hong Kong - Buy from KLOOK

We stayed for four days in Hong Kong. The kids loved the cool weather while enjoying our walks in Victoria Harbour or the rides at Disneyland. Hong Kong truly is a magnificent city which our family really enjoyed. You and your family too can enjoy Hong Kong. By proper planning and budgeting, you can get a hassle-free holiday that is within your budget.

Ever since I started visiting Boracay, I've seen these yellow-shirted people inviting beach-goers to join them in a pub crawl. I usually ignore them and just proceed to wherever I'm going. But this time, my trip to Boracay was special. It was my wife and I's wedding anniversary and we wanted to do something different. So we joined Boracay Pubcrawl.

We bought our pass via Klook (get your tickets here!), and each pass cost Php 990.00. When you register, you will be given the iconic yellow shirt, which you can alter creatively. You'll also get a baller bracelet, a shot glass and coupons for your 10 free shots. The coupons are colour-coded which means for each colour, you can use it to a specific club. And for pub crawlers, each club offers you promos and discounts so can drink as much as you want.

The group first assembled at the Epic bar where the rules and guides are laid out by the party captains. When you drink, you need to hold somebody's shoulder. This means that you should never, ever drink alone. If you are caught drinking without holding somebody's shoulder, then you will be asked by the group to drink your beer bottoms up!. At Epic Bar, we claimed our free shots and ordered beers to start the beach party.

The bar hopping officially started when the captains asked us to finish all our drinks and move to the beach area for the mandatory group photos. During the course of the evening, we were able to make friends with locals from Cebu, Manila, Davao, Germany, South Africa and South Korea. Everybody is so fun and welcoming, we truly did have the best night. Boracay Pubcrawl really lived up to its catchphrase: turning strangers into friends, and for a short period of time, we felt that we were really having the best night with best friends.

My wife and I are big fans of Boracay ever since we spent our honeymoon there many years ago. And since then, we returned several times, sometimes with our kids and once with our extended families. But most often, it was just us.

But last year, Boracay was closed for a very long time and we decided to just go somewhere else. And then, it was re-opened and we have been hearing great news about it. After six months of rehabilitation, the Department of Tourism has made significant changes, that at first, divided the opinion of the tourists and businesses. One of the changes that the government has implemented is to limit the number of visitors to enter the island by 6,405 tourists each day. They will do that by also making sure that each visitor will have a confirmed booking at accredited hotels before you are allowed to enter. Personally, that is fine by me because we will get to enjoy Boracay with lesser people on the beach. And based on our experience, indeed, lesser people at the beach than the last time we were there!

The Department of Tourism has also banned La Boracay, a well-known summer event party that is usually done at the beach. Structures such as souvenir shops, food stalls, massage beds, and even beach umbrellas are prohibited at the beach area as well. Smoking, eating and drinking alcohol are strictly prohibited. But if you really want to party, there are a lot of bars and clubs along the main road. My wife and I even signed up for Boracay Pub Crawl to bar hop, meet new people from different nationalities and party.

The beach now is less crowded so people can have their own space without getting bothered by vendors and other people at the beach. With lesser people at the beach, you can have plenty of space with your photoshoots, just like my wife and I did.

So, we really did enjoy our stay in Boracay, and indeed, we fell in love with the place the second time around. In fact, we booked another flight this coming first week of May. Can't wait to come back to Boracay again!

My wife and I recently went on a vacation to Boracay. That was our first time to visit since the 6-month closure and we had been hearing some positive feedback. When Boracay has opened again, the number of tourists were significantly reduced and they only allow entry for those tourists with confirmed bookings from accredited hotels. They also removed all the structures near the beach to allow more people to enjoy their time in the sand.

I happen to stumble on Royal Air when I was trying to look for a last-minute deal for our Boracay vacation. I already booked our hotel and as I was checking the flights from Clark to Caticlan, I saw Royal Air, along with Air Asia, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific. I'm already settled for Air Asia because it's cheaper the than PAL and CEBPAC, but when I tried checking the rates of Royal Air, it was a bit cheaper.

Royal Air is a small commercial airline that started out as a private charter. It has three (3) 97-seater British Aerospace (BAe) AVRO 146 RJ-100 series in its fleet. The aircraft is sometimes called "whisperjet" but in Royal Air's case, I can't even use my headphones to binge-watch my favourite TV series or listen to Spotify because the engine was way too loud!

The cabin has two seats on the left and three seats on the right and appears to be a bit spacious in my opinion, than what Air Asia or Cebu Pacific has to offer. The biggest drawback? The plane needed a lot of scrubbing and the air condition was pitiful! According to the cabin crew, the air will be a lot cooler when the plane was in the air. During the flight, they served us with a chocolate sponge cake and bottled water, which was nice, I guess.

So, will I fly again with Royal Air? Yeah, if all the airlines close or I do not have a choice. Or if the fare is really cheap! After all, I'm a budget traveller. In Royal Air's case, it is the destination, not the journey, that matters.

Everybody takes vitamin C daily because we know that it can potentially ward off diseases and can strengthen our immune system. Vitamin C is an essential nutrient found in various fruits and vegetables. Our body requires ascorbic acid to help form and maintain our bones, blood vessels, and skin. It also promotes healing and to prevent infections.

But there are vitamin C formulations in the market that claims that they are superior to the other. I'm talking about Sodium Ascorbate and Calcium Ascorbate. Are they really better than the good old Ascorbic Acid? Let's find out.

As per Wikipedia, Sodium Ascorbate "is one of a number of mineral salts of ascorbic acid." So it means aside from the two that I mentioned above, there are several other forms. But considering that the Sodium Ascorbate and Calcium Ascorbate are the most popular and available in the market, we'll focus on them. Sodium Ascorbate is a sodium salt of ascorbic acid, it is known as mineral ascorbate. Sodium Ascorbate has not been demonstrated to be more bioavailable than any other form of vitamin C. And there are these findings from Oregon State University's Linus Pauling Institute Micronutrient Information Center:
1,000 mg of sodium ascorbate generally contains 111 mg of sodium. Individuals following low-sodium diets (e.g., for high blood pressure) are generally advised to keep their total dietary sodium intake to less than 2,500 mg/day. Thus, megadoses of vitamin C in the form of sodium ascorbate could significantly increase sodium intake
On the other hand, Calcium Ascorbate is the calcium salt of ascorbic acid and is also a mineral ascorbate, just like Sodium Ascorbate, and it is approximately 10% calcium by mass. We all know that Calcium is also a mineral that can help our body against bone density loss. In the stomach, Calcium lowers the acidity levels. The Micronutrient Information Center also has this to say about Calcium Ascorbate:
Calcium ascorbate generally provides 90-110 mg of calcium (890-910 mg of ascorbic acid) per 1,000 mg of calcium ascorbate. Calcium in this form appears to be reasonably well absorbed. The recommended dietary calcium intake for adults is 1,000 to 1,200 mg/day. Total calcium intake should not exceed the UL, which is 2,500 mg/day for adults aged 19-50 years and 2,000 mg/day for adults older than 50 years
Natural and synthetic vitamin C such as Sodium Ascorbate and Calcium Ascorbate are chemically identical, and there are no known differences in their biological activity. But there are possibilities that the bioavailability of the natural vitamin C differs that of the synthetic ones might differ. Calcium Ascorbate appears reasonably well absorbed and does not contribute to sodium accumulation than that of Sodium Ascorbate. Although both Sodium Ascorbate and Calcium Ascorbate are less likely to contribute gastric irritation, Calcium Ascorbate appears superior than that of Sodium Ascorbate as an alternative to Ascorbic Acid because of the extra benefits it brings.

It is summer already, are you ready to flaunt your bikini-body? Don't be shy! Whatever your size or shape, as long as you are comfortable with your body, then you have the right, just like everybody, to enjoy summer. But it is much better if you treat your body to some detoxing and exercise so that you can feel confident in the outside and healthier inside.

I know, I know. Getting in shape is really hard. Dieting and exercise is hard work. But there are ways to achieve your ideal weight without starving yourself or exerting so much effort. One such way is through detoxification!

To detoxify, you must maintain a healthy diet. You can start by removing foods that make you more toxic, such as fructose, which is commonly found in soft drinks and processed fruit juice drinks. You also should avoid trans fats and damaged fats. These are the fats that are found in processed foods.

So, how to start the detox diet? There are three ways. You can start with a fruit detox. Fruit detox is a great way to cleanse your body without starving yourself. You can also do a liquid fast, where you only consume liquids such as water, tea, fruit juice, vegetable juice, and protein shakes for 2-3 days. You can also eat fruits and vegetables for seven straight days.

Now, let's boost your detoxing efforts further by adding Chlorella to the mix. Chlorella is a type of single-celled algae that grows in fresh water. Chlorella is a good source of various protein, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals. It also acts as an antioxidant and may help to decrease cholesterol. Chlorella, if added to your existing diet and exercise, can help support your immune system, helps with weight and fat loss, and it can help make you look and feel younger! Perfect for summer!

Note: Chlorella is available in various forms such as powder, tablets, capsules. In the Philippines, I found one sold by GoldLife in capsule form. You may check their facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/GoldLifeOfficial

I received a package of food supplement in the mail from Westfield Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and they asked me if I can give this away to some people around to check their response. Full disclosure, I work as a consultant for the said company and I'm used to being given with various products to try.

The supplement that I got is Zumma, a dietary supplement for men. And it contains several plant extracts that supposedly help achieve an erection without side effects. Categorized as a food supplement, it means that it is not a drug and quite safe to use. Upon inspection of the packaging, it states that it contains L-Arginine, Wild Yam Extract, Lyceum barbarum Extract, Cistanche Deserticola Extract and Epimedium Extract. They also sent this link that contains the science behind each plant extract: http://zummaformen.com/scientific-evidence/

And it hit me. I know who are the perfect people to try Zumma. You see, I'm having my house renovated and I have several construction guys around. I asked them to take Zumma tonight and report back in the morning. The next day, they were all smiling at me and reported that Zumma was awesome and it worked wonders!

So I had to experience it myself. The direction says "take one capsule two hours before the performance, preferably with an empty stomach." And later that night, I felt something. In anticipation of the deed, I find myself erect, the type of erection that is not the usual, and I know it has to be Zumma. And the best thing about it, I experience no headache whatsoever which are typical of other brands. And the next day, I was still stiff! Ha ha!

Zumma is priced at around Php 200 per box of 2 capsules and is only available at the brand's website www.zummaformen.com and via Shopee or Lazada.

Here's a new invention that will surely raise an eyebrow... or two. It is called "automated sperm extractor", a portable machine that helps sperm donors who are too embarrassed to masturbate in clinic or hospitals. This machine was invented by the Jiangsu Sanwe Medical Science and Technology Center in China to help male patients extract sperm for donation and medical analysis. This machine is designed as totally automated and hands-free and comes with customizable features such as temperature, amplitude, frequency and speed adjustments.

As a tool for donating sperm, especially for those with disabilities, this would be a great help. But for the use of people without physical disabilities, this would just be a novelty item.

In case you are wondering what is the process of donating sperm, it starts with a consultation with a physician at a sperm bank. A contract will be drafted to specify the duration and frequency of donation. The donor will be advised not to ejaculate for two to three days before providing the sample in order to increase sperm count. The donor will then masturbate and the sperm will be collected through the use of a special sperm collection condom. Sperms are then extracted from the sample, screened and cryogenically stored for future insemination.

The "hands-free sperm extractor" machine is now listed in Alibaba for overseas orders and priced between US $2,000 to $3000 depending on the quantity.

The next Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology congress will be held in Manila, Philippines at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia Complex from May 22-26, 2019 with the theme "Unity in Diversity: Setting Global Standards in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Management."

The Organizing Team is spearheaded by the President of the Philippine Heart Association, Dr. Nannette Rey. The regional meeting will coincide with the PHA 50th Annual Convention & Scientific Meeting.

Non-consensual sex takes many forms, and nonconsensual sex has negative consequences for its victims. In hopes of preventing nonconsensual sex, a sex toy company from Argentina created a condom packaging that would require four hands to open.

The video, posted on Tulipán Argentina twitter account, shows a condom pack being opened by two individuals. You'll have to use both of your thumbs and ring fingers on opposite ends, with the index and middle fingers hitting the other side.

The post caption is translated from Spanish: "This Pack is as simple to open as you understand that if you don't say yes, it's No." The tweet currently has 21,300 views on the social media platform was getting mixed reactions.

Tulipán Argentina so far has been giving away limited-edition condoms packs at bars in Buenos Aires for free and they were met with praise from those who’ve got them. It is still unclear when Tulipán will sell the product to the market.

Traffic ba from Makati Medical center at may coverage ka pa papuntang St. Lukes Global City? Why not try riding a helicopter, especially if you have the money? Aba, may murang paraan!

Pero hindi katulad ng nasa photo, ha. Joke lang yun. For all seriousness, there's a new company offering a helicopter ride-sharing service that promises to cut travel time in just a few minutes. That tech startup is called Ascent Urban Air Mobility, and according to them, passengers can book a helicopter seat through their website (http://ascent.flights) and fly from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to central business districts in Makati, Bonifacio Global City, Quezon City, Clark and Tagaytay.

With prices starting from P6,900 for a flight from Makati to Bonifacio Global City, pharmaceutical execs, most probably your ex-pat bosses, will be able to visit the top consultant in St. Lukes BGC. If they want to unwind, they only pay P21,900 so they can fly from NAIA to Tagaytay or P25,900 from NAIA to Clark.

Pharmaceutical companies can utilize this service for their top clients, especially if this turns out to be a "necessity" instead of a luxury. Through the pharma companies, doctors could get this service if there is a life-or-death situation and they need to go from their clinic to another hospital. Basically, this could circumvent The Mexico Principles and can be offered only as an "emergency" option. Imagine, giving an annual ride allocation to your top doctors with the condition that they can only use this for an extreme patient emergency.

Product Managers, something to think about.

Performance appraisal or evaluation is an essential component in the pharmaceutical business. It allows the company to retain and reward talented people, as well as eliminate non-performing employees.

Performance appraisal is necessary. It is a procedure that involves the assessment of an individual’s performance on a regular basis. It’s not just once a year or every six months. Appraisals are done every minute you are connected with the company. Performance appraisal lies at the heart of good business practice. A performance appraisal system can only function if the business has a clear idea of where it is heading and has taken steps to ensure that it is taking the workforce along.

Performance appraisal should be treated as an ongoing developmental process. It should be closely monitored by both the Med Rep and the District Sales Manager to ensure that performance parameters and objectives are being achieved and lapses are being addressed. By preparing yourself diligently and demonstrating a willingness to co-operate with your manager to develop yourself, you will create a positive impression.

To better understand and assess your own performance objectively, try stepping to your manager’s shoes. Make sure that you understand all the parameters, all the policies and all the performance objectives. Go through the appraisal system step by step by day 1 in order to be prepared by year end.

Review your job description, your role as well as your duties and responsibilities. Try to analyze you agreed quantitative and qualitative performance targets. What extra efforts have you performed or projects that you have been involved within the past year and what impact does this made to the overall performance of your territory? How does your work compare to the other members of the team?

Keep a detailed record of all your work-related activities. You should have copies of all documents that can substantiate your positive performance. Collate the necessary documentary evidence to support your assertions.

Be open and co-operative with your manager. Chances are he will do the same thing with you. After all, his main task is to develop you. By doing this review, both of you can highlight your success stories and improve past shortcomings. Acknowledge problems and deal with it constructively.

Being prepared in this review will allow you to be in a better position to discuss your performance in an objective manner. Express how you learned from these experiences and have used the knowledge gained to improve yourself and your territory’s performance. In anticipation of your next appraisal, be sure to take note and implement your manager's developmental plan.

Your manager will assess your performance quantitatively and qualitatively.

Chinese smartphone maker and telecommunication giant Huawei has recently unveiled its top-of-the-line smartphone series that rivals that of Samsung and Apple, the P30 series. Huawei P30 will have 6/128 GB memory, while the P30 Pro will have 8/128 GB as a base.

The latest smartphone from Huawei is available in the regular P30 and the much premium P30 Pro. Both models sports Leica-engineered cameras that reportedly can zoom 30 times (P30) and 50 times (P30 Pro).

The P30 Pro model has a 40 megapixel f/1.6 main camera, secondary 20 megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 8 megapixel 10x hybrid zoom lens. Huawei P30 has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, while the P30 Pro has 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage capacity.

Since this is Huawei's top of the line phone, expect that the base model will be priced ranging from Php 40,000.00 to Php 50,000.00 when it is finally available locally.

Boracay never became boring even after the six-month closure. True, there was a major clean up along the 4 km-stretch white beach, but that is for the good of the island as well as the tourists who wanted to enjoy the fine sand and sun without the distractions of commerce.

There are still a lot of activities you can join even at night, especially if you love to party. Even if you are alone or with your friends and co-workers, you can have the best night of your stay in Boracay and you wouldn't need to spend that much!

We definitely recommend that you join Boracay's own Pubcrawl. Boracay PubCrawl offers travellers the chance to party as a group. You can discover the best night spots and make new friends as well while having a great evening out. You will also get free shots plus the best drink deals at every club that you stop. And you do not need to take a selfie as a professional photographer is along with you to document the epic night!

To get your Boracay Pubcrawl pass in advance (because trust me, they get sold out really fast), you can check out Klook at https://www.klook.com.

Outside the company, the recipient of your products and services, the patients, are the most important. At least in the true sense of the word ethical marketing is concerned. Since we are dealing with lives, our job is to provide the decision makers (physicians) with accurate information about the drug that we promote so that they can properly administer it to their patients. Back then, the power of deciding which medicine to take rests on the Physicians. But now, with the advent of patent expiration of most popular drugs and the introduction of its generic
yet equally potent copies, patients can choose which brand suits to their needs.

Before you get to the doctors, you will encounter them. They are the Medical Secretary. Their job is to facilitate doctor-patient consultation. And yes, they serve as your gateway to your customer. Sometimes, they have can decide who to cover and when to cover. It is much better to establish a good rapport with them because you may need their help in the future. They might give their boss, the doctor, a good word or two about you. Some Med Reps gives a gift, token or gimmicks to these secretaries. That is one good strategy to win their hearts.

Out in the field, you will encounter other Med Reps from other companies, local and multinational, that may be your direct competitor. As with this business, interpersonal and relationship skills plays a big role. It is not just you are competing with the product that they are carrying, you are competing with the doctor’s attention as well. Allowing Med Reps to cover the physicians in between patient consultations allows the physicians to vent some stress by taking their minds off momentarily from what they are doing. What do you think will happen if the next Med Rep that covers him has no pleasing personality?

Whenever you visit a drugstore to check the movement of your products, the people you will encounter are the pharmacy assistants or clerks. Relationship skills are important when you deal with them. They may choose not to entertain you if you have no pleasing personality at all. They have the right to discriminate; after all, they have better things to do. But they are very important. If you have established a good relationship with them, they may help you push your product or exchange the brand of your competitors to yours. The same thing with their supervisor, pharmacist or owner: these are the decision makers. They decide if they will order from you and what quantity.

This article is intended for all patients.

On behalf of all those people working in the pharmaceutical industry, our sincere apologies. We do understand all your sentiments and if we were on your shoes, we will feel exactly the same. Sabi nga, trabaho lang po. Pero, ano nga ba itong trabaho ng Medrep?

Medreps are just like salesmen, but instead of physically selling medicines to the doctors, they sell the merits of the product that they are promoting. The features and benefits of the brand are what convince the doctor to prescribe that product to a specific patients type or condition. So, pag and profile mo ay tulad ng isinasalarawan ng mga scientific studies na kayang pagalingin ng gamot na pino-promote, ma re-resetahan ka ni doctor ng gamot na yon.

Ngayon, bakit andami-daming Medrep? Noong panahon ng mga lolo at lola natin, konti lamang ang mga kumpanya ng gamot. And mostly, they are the one who did the research and development as well as marketing. As technology and manufacturing capabilities improve, the number of drug companies also increases. Fast forward to present times, even before the Cheaper Medicines law came into effect, there are several Filipino companies are engaged in manufacturing, importing and/or distributing pharmaceutical products. Dagdagan mo pa ang pagpasok ng mga pharmaceutical companies from India and other countries, which all of them wanted a slice sa growing market ng Pilipinas.

The Philippine pharmaceutical industry has contributed thousands upon thousands of jobs, and the majority of that workforce are field personnel, which in turn contribute to the economy of the country. So, pag may nakikita kang Medrep, konting pasensya. Kasi, kailangan nilang mabisita si dok dahil doon nakasalalay ang kabuhayan nila.

Pero puwede nyo kutusan kung pasaway.

Joke lang.

MANILA, Philippines - Facebook has committed another security nightmare. Facebook confirmed yesterday, March 21, that millions and millions of passwords were compromised as the social media giant had all our passwords stored in its servers were not encrypted. In fact, the passwords were stored just as it is, plain text.

Usually, passwords are stored and automatically encrypted so as they are not easily compromised by hackers. But a bug in Facebook's password management systems caused hundreds of millions of passwords for Facebook, Facebook Light, and Instagram to be stored in text and criminals can easily search through the server and get access to your social media accounts.

Facebook has already corrected the system and has notified its users to immediately change their passwords. To change your passwords using a desktop computer, go to SETTINGS, then to SECURITY and LOGIN, and CHANGE PASSWORD. For mobile devices, go to SETTINGS & PRIVACY, then SETTINGS, then to SECURITY and LOGIN, and CHANGE PASSWORD.

As a Professional Medical Representative, your immediate superior is the District Sales Manager. District Sales Managers usually handle about three or more territories. Their job is to manage you to perform your best and deliver the sales.

Salesmen are your counterpart in the field. You create the demand; they will deliver the products and collect the payments. Some companies outsource the sales part and some don’t. The popular sales business outsourcing companies are ZuelligPharma and Metro Drug.

But you must not rely totally on your salesman. Some salesmen have other principals or companies that they serve. When I was a Medical Representative under Merck Sharp and Dohme, my salesman has more than twenty principals! The salesman cannot give preference to all of you at once. Just like you, he has his own monthly quota. He or she may prioritize fast moving products and those products are not necessarily yours.

The District Sales Managers are the mini-bosses. They have a team of Medical Representatives working for him. They do mostly coaching and support in order for each of their people deliver the sales. District Managers report to the Regional Sales Manager (if it is a large organization) or directly to the National Sales Manager (in the case of a small organization).

Product or Brand Managers are the brand champions. They provide the whole marketing strategy for the assigned brand. They plan and strategize the whole marketing concern: from the number of MedReps needed, how many doctors to cover and what type of promotional tools to use in order to achieve the target. After all, the sales target for the whole brand is on his shoulder. In a complex organization, Product Managers report directly to the Marketing Manager or Group Product Manager.

In some companies, training is also handled by Product Managers. But with big companies, there is a specific group that handles it. The training and development group is a collaboration of Human Resources, Marketing Department and Medical Affairs which makes sure that the field force, from line managers to reps, has adequate training in the field of business and medical science.

There is a special position that specifically handles Continuing Medical Education. They are called CME Managers. They facilitate the planning and implementation of scientific lectures and roundtable discussions. They also coordinate with key medical societies when it comes to participation to some of its programs such as regional or national conventions.  The CME Manager may advise people who are interested in continuing education to find out more about Healthcare Degrees on Guide to Healthcare Schools.

Local companies have a far simpler structure. Usually, the owner sits on the top, juggling General Manager, Sales Manager and Marketing Manager functions, where District Sales Manager, and sometimes Professional Medical Representatives, report to them.
